Marlins V Braves - April 22 Marlins 7 - Braves 2
Marlins romp into a first place tie !!
The Marlins matched up against the 5-1 braves tonight in a battle of the top teams, in the first of a four part series.
What a battle it was, with the Braves drawing first blood with a lead off run in the first. The Marlins sent a "backatcha" in their at bat, managing to pull 2 more runs out of the hat to end the first 3-1 advantage Marlins. Things settled in the 2nd with the Braves pulling a run back to bring things around to 3-2, but the Marlins answered with a single run to take it to 4-2 into the third.
Once agains the Marlins dug deep through the next few innings with Matt having, again an outsanding game across both sides of the ball.
Matt was pitched out tonight, but his catching was flawless, and once again he sent batters in for runs off of his hits, and is now an awesome 18 at bats without a strikeout...
Another Star on the night was Robert who once again pitched a jewel, there were at least 4 times that bases were loaded, with Robert up against the count only for "The Closer" to retire batters, and eventually innings..
Tonight he pitched 12, yes count em, 12 strikeouts... in 6 innings.. WOW. Oh, and to add to it, he had an in the park Homer and a ground rule double. Somebody call the cops, this kid should be made illegal !! (just kidding Robert :)
Elliott threw the monkey off his back tnought and dumped his recent string of no hits with an RBI double, and risng talent Tyler also bought home the goods with an RBI. Ricky has now gone 2 games straight with no strike outs, and is consistently hitting base, and bringing home runners.
All in all a good performance. There were some errors, and the Marlins base running needs to sharpen, but the team is rolling.
BUT we face the Braves again come Monday, and you know they are looking to hook the Big Fish, so its going to be a great series. Stay Tuned.
